Copyright in Fire Insurance Plans

چکیده
Fire insurance plans are among the most valuable records documenting development of Canada’s cities and towns during late 19th 20th centuries. Many these preserved in archives libraries. However, for nearly three decades, making copies researchers (more recently) digitizing online access have been subject to a copyright “chill” as result claims companies that created their successors. This article recounts history Canadian fire repositories establishes current status terms ownership duration. The then explores extent which concerns justified offers possible solutions.
